Reflections Gold would have been the 36th expansion for Star Wars CCG, but was cancelled because Decipher lost the copyright for Star Wars CCGs to Wizards of the Coast.
The problem is that they did not playtest it and did not have enough man hours to actually get this out in time.
They asked Lucas if they could give the set away as a going away present to the players after their contract was up. Lucas denied them this and their next option was to just release what they had. They decided not to do this.
The idea was to have three game mechanics in this expansion:
- Credits: You would have the ability to start with 4 or 5 points worth of credit cards in your hand. The new Wide Vision effects/interrupts would be available to start in your opening hand and each one would have a gold credit in the bottom right corner. As long as you stayed under the 4 or 5 credits, you could start with that card in hand. This actually was sort of a cool idea as long as they didn't put some of the cards they had listed in the actual set as it would be total power creep.
- Combo Cards: These were just taking and putting more effects/interrupts together to form combo cards, many were extremely overpowered. These obviously were never playtested.
- Blank Cards: These were new cards that had a blank text area that I'm guessing were originally going to be new cards for the players but Decipher didn't have the time to give them any game text. Instead they would be the cards that were changeable by players or the coming PC that could print out new text for these cards and every 6 months or 1 year you would just replace the text with something else to change up the game some. This was the part that Decipher was pushing to Lucas that they were 'giving away to help the future of the game' and Lucas just said no.
The cards were printed off on sticker type of cards and pasted on WB cards to test.
